WE HAVE  A NEW LOCATION!

Staff and Elders signing the building use covenant with Ashley, Pastor at Kindred

Canvas has found a new home! We now meet at our regular 11:00 a.m. time (Sundays) from now on at Kindred Church at 2515 Waugh Drive

Kindred is the name of the church restart that has taken the place of Grace Lutheran Church. Kindred initiated a church restart project in November and began hosting weekly Dinner Church on Sunday nights in March. They have a vision similar to Canvas to make an impact on the Montrose community, inherited some exciting ministries from their previous incarnation and have a strong team in place to navigate their future course.

The Elders and Staff felt like the opportunity to form a partnership with like-minded folks on top of finding a place for worship that allowed us to stay in Montrose at the same time and on the same day was a God send for Canvas. In that spirit, that God has set this path before us and led us onto this path, has us unanimously excited for this opportunity. There will be more to share in the weeks ahead of this move, but for now we thank you for your prayers and concern in our search for a new home. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to J.D. or any of the Elders. We are looking forward to making this transition and want you all to share in our excitement. There are some great things ahead for Canvas!

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Worship at Canvas may vary slightly from week to week, but you can always expect time for reflection and prayer, a reading from the bible, some sort of teaching, perhaps some open discussion, and the celebration of the Lord’s Supper.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Wear what you are comfortable in. We want you to feel at home, and one of our primary values is authenticity.

IS THERE ANYTHING I SHOULD BRING?

If you own a Bible, we would encourage you to bring it with you. If you like to take notes, you are welcome to bring a pen and a journal. If you prefer cool new technology there are tons of bible apps for phones on various platforms.

I’M NOT A CHRISTIAN.

You are absolutely welcome. Our worship service provides a safe space for you to explore your beliefs about and understanding of God. Feel free to ask questions, offer an alternative point of view, or just take things in.

I HAVE KIDS.

Bring them! We have an exciting program for kids ages birth to 5th grade that includes singing, a craft, and a bible lesson.

WHAT ABOUT OLDER KIDS AND TEENAGERS?

Our worship service is a great experience for all ages. We believe that it is important for older kids to learn to participate in a multi-generational worship setting.

WHAT TIME SHOULD I GET THERE?

Our worship service begins at 11 am. Weekly worship is deeply important because it allows us not only to carve out time to devote to our Creator and Sustainer, but also because it allows us to build friendships and become partners in ministry. From the first song to the closing prayer our worship service lasts about an hour, so you can expect us to wrap up by 12:00 pm.

WHERE SHOULD I PARK?

Kindred Church is located just north of the intersection of Waugh and Westheimer, across from Campesinos coffeeshop. See the green sections in the map below for parking.
